KF Career is an advanced employee experience tool designed to empower individuals to achieve their career aspirations.
The platform offers a suite of features, including Career Journey Selection, which helps users strategically plan and navigate their career goals, Training and Assessments to enhance skills, and an Internal Job Portal that connects employees with relevant opportunities within their organization.

Over a 6 month period, I played a pivotal role in refining key aspects of the platform. My contributions focused on resolving

- Onboarding challenges to ensure a seamless user experience.
- Creating the career journey flow to better guide users toward their goals.

This case study highlights the challenges addressed, the solutions implemented, and the overall impact of these improvements on the KF Career platform.

Before we dive in, let’s meet the people who matter most — our key personas.

Understanding the primary users of KF Career is essential to appreciating the design and functionality decisions made throughout the project. The platform caters to a diverse audience, but its core personas include:

  • The Undecided Explorer
  • The Truly Contended
  • The Go Getter
  • Green Grass

Problem 1
(Helping Employees See the Value of KF Career)

  • Confusion for First-Time Users: Many employees find it hard to see the value of KF Career or figure out where to start when they first log in. This can lead to them losing interest and not coming back to use the app.

  • Skills Are Key, but Often Missing: If employees don’t add their skills, they miss out on the app’s best features like :- personalized job recommendations or career paths. Since these depend on knowing what the employee is good at, the app can’t deliver its full potential without this information.

Version 01

Our main focus was all about inspiring users to set up their skill profiles. We aimed to clearly show them the value they’d unlock by doing so like discover new career opportunities, identify development areas and guide you through your career within technology.

Impact

9/10 Users says entering skills before giving access to the application will allow them sees much better the value KF Career is offering.

Version 02

Version 01 was a success! Feedback showed that 9/10 users felt entering skills upfront helped them see the value KF Career offers. Building on this,
Version 02 focuses on making the onboarding process even smoother and more efficient.

This time, we’re introducing a new feature that lets users upload their resumes. This doesn’t just make adding skills easier it also pulls in work experience and certifications automatically. Plus, the first onboarding page now highlights what users can achieve with the app, giving them a clear picture of its benefits right from the start.

Via Resume Upload

Problem 2
(Helping Users Navigate Their Career Journey with Clarity and Confidence)

  • Lack of Clarity on Future Opportunities: As a user, I feel confused and unsure about what the organization can offer me in the coming years to help me stay motivated and prepare for the future.

  • Unclear Path to Achieving Career Goals: As a user with a clear career goal, I’m not sure if it’s achievable or how to get there. I don’t have enough visibility on the steps or timeline to reach my aspirations.

  • Stuck in a Current Role and Looking for Change: As a user feeling stuck in my current role, I’m not satisfied with what I’m doing and need a quick transition into a new role to feel motivated. The current setup forces me to look outside the organization, and I need help understanding what opportunities exist within my company for growth and change.
User Flow

We develop the user flow for happy path first to understand the app screens and organise the ideas.

Version 01 (MVP)

Our main focus for Version 01 was to provide the core functionality users needed to get started on their career journey. Following the happy path, we kept things simple due to time constraints for the MVP, recommending roles based solely on the user’s skills. This approach allowed us to quickly deliver value while laying the foundation for future enhancements.

Version 02

With the success of the MVP, we shifted our focus in Version 02 to go beyond the basics and provide users with a richer, more flexible experience. Instead of sticking solely to the happy path, we added new functionalities and addressed various user scenarios to make the platform more comprehensive and intuitive.

Key Changes
  • Explore Beyond Recommended Roles: Users can now browse additional roles by selecting sub-functions and specific roles within those sub-functions, offering more career exploration options.
  • Improved UX: Based on user feedback, we enhanced the overall design and user flow to make the experience smoother, faster, and more intuitive than the MVP version.
  • Enhanced Current Role Visibility: We added more detailed information about users’ current roles, helping them understand their position better and plan their next steps effectively.
  • Adapting to Success Profile Changes: When success profiles evolve (e.g., a skill is no longer required), the platform now updates in-progress career journeys to reflect these changes, ensuring users stay on track.
  • Handling Missing Skills: If users lack the skills needed for recommended roles, the platform now guides them on what to do next to unlock more role recommendations.
